E.
Scott Hamilton
I
began serving as the guest minister of Central Christian Church
beginning in January 2001, and the church called me to be their
full-time pastor in May of 2002. Practicing in ministry since
August of 1992, I have served churches as pastor in Keedysville,
MD, Copperas Cove, TX, and DeLeon, TX. I have also served in various
ministerial roles including youth and music ministries.
My
education is diversified. I received an Associate of Applied Science
from Vernon College in 1992. I completed the requirements for
my Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies from Howard Payne University
in 1995 and received a Master of Divinity in Christian Religious
Education in 1999. I have also done post-graduate work at the
Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation, Catholic University,
and Brite Divinity School of Texas Christian University. I am
currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in pastoral care
and counseling at Brite Divinity School.
My
primary goal as a minister of the gospel is to equip fellow believers
for the work of ministry. The practice of spiritual disciples
within the context of a theologically diverse and inclusive group
of believers best facilitates this process. My ministerial experience
has convinced me that spiritual formation, or Christian discipleship,
is THE key to balanced, long-term Kingdom growth. With that in
mind, I espouse the priorities of worshipping God and fostering
ecumenical relationships. I believe that effective Christian education
propagates traditional Christian principles of individual freedom,
servanthood, personal accountability, and individual priesthood
all under the authority of Jesus Christ. The church, as I understand
it, should be a place of refuge, hope, and renewal for persons
marginalized in any way.
Rebecca
and I were married in March of 1992. Interestingly enough, we
met at a wedding. Rebecca received her Bachelor of Science in
Psychology from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls,
TX in 1992. Our children, Allyssa and Nicole, test our parenting
skills on a consistent basis while providing more joy and humor
than they realize. Being a family today has its challenges. It
also provides a fertile ground in which spiritual growth and pastoral
care take place on a regular basis.
In
today’s culture, time is a rare commodity. When there is
time, I enjoy reading, conversation, theological discussion, walking,
and a number of other outdoor activities.
Give
me a call or drop an email. I would love the opportunity to visit
with you about what God is doing.
